The short version: Lantern stores nothing. It keeps no personal data, no copy of your catalogue and no cookies. To answer a search it passes the words typed to its own search service and returns the matching products — nothing about that request is recorded, and nothing identifies the person who typed it. There is no account to create and no data for us to lose.
Lantern is a product search app published by Lucency (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to data when Lantern runs on a site that has installed it. It applies to both the site owner and to visitors who use the search box.
Nothing is kept. When a visitor types a search, two things are sent to Lantern's search service: the words they typed, and an identifier for the site they are on. The service uses them to look up matching products in that store's catalogue and returns the results. Neither the search text nor anything else about the request is stored, logged, profiled or used to build a record. No name, email, IP-based profile, cookie or tracking identifier is created, and nothing links a search to the person who made it.
Nothing beyond what the platform requires. Installing Lantern grants it permission to read the products in your store so it can search them. That access is read-only. We do not copy, export, retain or transmit your catalogue anywhere. Lantern keeps no index and no database.
On installation, Lantern requests read-only permissions to your store catalogue and site content. It uses them solely to answer searches in real time, and only while a search is happening. It cannot create, change or delete anything in your store.
Searches are answered by Lantern's own search service, which we run at lantern-api-zeta.vercel.app and which is hosted for us by Vercel. It reads your catalogue live to find matches and writes nothing down — there is no database, no index and no search history behind it.
Beyond that hosting, there are no third parties: no analytics provider, no advertising network, no external search vendor and no other processor. Your catalogue is never copied, exported or handed to anyone.
A search exists only for as long as it takes to answer it. Nothing is written to disk or to a database at any point, so there is no retention period, nothing to export and nothing to delete. Uninstalling Lantern removes its access immediately.
Lantern is a tool for site owners and is not directed at children. Because it collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either.
If Lantern ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that change ships, and the date at the top will change. We would not introduce data collection quietly.
